A two days tour to discover the desert of Southern Morocco, driving through the High Atlas Mountain, Berber kasbahs, palm groves to finally reach the Zagora desert.
This desert tour is ideal for anyone with a limited amount of time.
Day 1
Our tour has an early start with a pick up from your accommodation.
We will drive towards Ouarzazate, a small town known as ‘the door to the desert’, up to High Atlas Mountains and crossing the Tizi nTichka pass at an altitude of 2.260mt (7.410 ft) above the sea level, with a few stops en route to enjoy the magnificent views from the mountains.
We will then descend to the Ounila valley and you will have some free time to visit the Ait-BenHaddou kasbah, a group of earthen buildings surrounded by high walls, which is now World UNESCO Heritage Site.
This amazing place is also a favourite Hollywood film location and some movies such as The Mummy, Gladiator and Babel were filmed here and more recently The Game of Thrones used this site to represent the slave-trading city of Yunkai.
After lunch, our trip to the desert will continue driving through the Drâa Valley, a 200 Km long palm grove in a rocky landscape with lots of ancient and yet well preserved kasbahs, until we reach Zagora, the capital of this amazing valley and this is where your desert tour will begin.
You will ride your camel accompanied by an experienced local guide towards a desert camp and you will spend the night in your private and equipped tent. You will enjoy a sunset overlooking the desert, have a typical Moroccan dinner under the stars while listening to the locals playing traditional music.
Day 2
You will wake up early in the morning to enjoy a spectacular sunrise over the desert and after breakfast you will ride your camel back from the desert camp.
Our driver will meet you at a designated point and the journey back to Marrakech will begin including a quick stop in Ouarzazate, which features the amazing Taourirt kasbah. We will be back in Marrakech early in the evening.
